Are your characters based off real people or did they all come entirely from your imagination?

Most of my characters are straight out of my imagination. However, Rikki, the daughter in Away to Me, is loosely based on some of my own experiences. Until she was thirteen, she believed her mother was her birth mother. Then she and her stepdad find a note from her father saying that she was adopted. Until I was sixteen, I believed my grandmother was a lady named Alice who passed away a year before I was born. I’m named after her. Mom always referred to Alice as “Mom”, and still does. However, it came out that Alice was actually my mom’s grandmother, and Mom’s birth mom was a woman I thought was her oldest sister. I drew from my experiences from…
