Today, I said “..Just hiring a disabled [or differently-abled] person for a job on an assembly line pushing buttons isn’t good enough. We’re capable of so much more. Why don’t I see people like this at work?”
There should be a Susan with down syndrome as a manager of a department — because she’s qualified for the job. Sam (gender neutral) on the Autism spectrum should be an analyst. Hispanic/Latino Alex should be in accounting, not just “environmental services”.
I’ve met these people. They’re some of the most brilliant humans walking this earth. We can only strengthen ourselves with diversity in the workplace.
