Hey Reader! As you probably guessed from the title, today’s discussion involves the MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) Vaccine and its association with Autism. If you remember our discussion about vaccine hesitancy last week, let me introduce you to Andrew Wakefield. He was contributor numero uno to this nightmare in the early 2000s. In 1998, exactly twenty-three years ago to the day, as I write this, his paper was published by The Lancet journal, claiming there was a link between the MMR vaccine and autism in children. If you noticed, I didn’t refer to him as “Dr.” as he was stripped of his credentials, rightfully so, after his paper was retracted. Of course, when anything becomes public, even for a second, there will always be evidence that it existed.
