I emailed Prof. Bennett about an idea I had coming into this course. I’m a volunteer co-leader of the Asperger Syndrome/Non-Verbal Learning Disorder (AS/NLD) Parent Support Group. One of our challenges is providing new parents with resources they need to begin setting up public services for their autistic child as they approach adulthood. The learning curve is steep and overwhelming. And rehashing these topics at every meeting becomes very repetitive for parents who’ve been attending for awhile. How can we make learning about the process of obtaining public services for autistic adults more accessible?
