My final topic will be about neurodiversity. A new perspective and social movement advocating for people with atypical neurological conditions like autism. Rather than focusing on the problems often associated with these conditions, the advantageous traits are acknowledged and fostered as well. There is a bit of conflict in the world of autism advocacy. Some feel that neurodiversity ignores the sometimes completely disabling disorders and diseases commonly experienced by autistic people. The medical model and neurodiversity paradigm are not mutually exclusive in my opinion.
