This week in City First Leadership College, we had a class about social cues. I tried to take it all to heart, but I also kept thinking about why I personally struggle with that subject. In past weeks, we’ve discussed anxiety and depression. While I don’t have much personal experience with those things, I do have experience with another mental issue. So today I’m going to talk about Asperger’s Syndrome. Strap in, folks. This is a long one.
Asperger’s Syndrome is also known as high-functioning autism. Officially, psychologists group all of the Autism Spectrum under one “umbrella diagnosis” called Autism Spectrum Disorder. Does it make sense? No. Do all of us formerly known as Aspergians like it? No. But it is what it is.
