According to a news article published in 2019 by a French news cite, a study conducted found 85% of those surveyed believed homosexuality was “just another way of living one’s sexuality” basically indicating that 85% believe there is nothing wrong with homosexuality and sexual orientation is not a big deal. This is a major improvement from the only 24% of those surveyed who agreed with the same sentence in 1975. These trends can be found worldwide, with the 72%of Americans saying that heterosexuality should be accepted by society and 85% of Canadians also agreeing.

However, even though clear progress has been made, the French news article makes it clear that stereotypes surrounding homosexuality still remain. For example, the article asked “should certain professions where one is in permanent contact with children be prohibited to homosexuals?” And surprising, one in five people answered yes.
